Tour Description

DMZ (DeMilitarized Zone)

Imjingak

Imjingak, located 7 km away from Southern boundary of De-Militarized zone, is now the forefront of tourism related to the Korean conflict and security tourism.

It was built in 1972 with the hope that unification would be possible at someday. Three-storied Imjingak building is surrounded by several Monuments, Unification park and North Korea Center. Outside Imjingak, there are Steam locomotive used by military personals or equipments during Korean War and Freedom bridge used by exchanging prisoners of Korean War.

Mangbaedan, which stands opposite of Imjingak, is famous for the place where people from North Korea visit and perform ancestral ceremony by bowing towards their hometown every Seolnal (New Year Day) and Chuseok (Thanksgiving day).

DMZ

The Korean DMZ(=Demilitarized Zone) is a strip of land running across in the middle of Korean Peninsula. 2Km wide in South Korea and 2 Km wide in North Korea, total 4 Km wide and 248 Km long.

It is established by the provisions of the Korean Armistice Agreement to serve as a buffer zone between North Korea and South Korea in 1953. The demilitarized zone is a border barrier that divides the Korean Peninsula roughly in half, generally speaking along the 38th parallel.

It is most famous destination after Gyeongbok palace. It is very funny experience to walk through the 3rd tunnel.

JSA (Joint Security Area, Panmunjom) Tour

During the Korean War, the truce talks took place one kilometer north of the present Joint Security Area, four thatch-roofed in houses, 3 temporary building set up specifically for the meeting. three Quonset huts were the only structures found in the truce village. The village was moved to an approximately circular area a 800 meters in diameter in the middle of the DMZ (Military Demarcation Line), Panmunjom today. In the JSA there are 24 main buildings (including a row of seven Quonset huts) across the MDL.

There had been tension and cooperation through the past 65 years. And wow the Panmunjom is the heart of peace and prosperity between North Korea and South Korea as well as the world.
